Whites Guide to Salisbury

Whites Estate Agents have a great understanding of Salisbury and the Salisbury property market, having sold and let property in Salisbury since 1957.  The following blog highlights just some of the reasons why we think Salisbury is a GREAT PLACE TO LIVE IN!

It was described by the Telegraph writer “as the loveliest town in England” and in 2019 voted best city to live in by The Sunday Times.  Salisbury truly is a special city which is centred around the majestic Salisbury Cathedral that boasts the tallest spire in England!   It also has hugely impressive architecture from medieval walls to half-timbered Tudor town houses, to Georgian mansions and Victorian villas and with its bustling market square, it is a very compact city that is easy to get around either by foot or bike.

Here are some of our recommendations:

One of the most sought after road to live in:

Bouverie Avenue South with a good mix of houses on a tree lined road.

Oldest street to live in:

Apart from Cathedral Close, St Ann Street.

Transport:

Salisbury mainline train station has good link to London, as well as to the south to places like Exeter and Portsmouth.

Weekly events that happen in Salisbury include:

Salisbury Market this takes place every Tuesday and Saturday.  There are also several continental markets throughout the year.

Annual events (normally) include:

  • Salisbury International Arts Festival
  • Salisbury Art Trail
