Woodford Valley
The secluded Woodford Valley is one of the region’s six river valleys, along with Avon, Chalke, Nadder, Wylye and Bourne.
The valley sits abreast of the River Avon as it winds its way through the lush countryside, and its quintessentially English villages are scattered with thatched cottages and flint and mellow, red brick houses.
Built in 1901 in Middle Woodford, Woodford Village Hall is the focal point for the Woodford Valley communities, hosting meetings, parties, events and exhibitions.
Middle Woodford is also home to the beautiful Heale House in and its eight acres of gardens, with an authentic Japanese tea house and red Nikko bridge.
For those living in the Woodford Valley, there is a primary school and popular pubs – The Bridge Inn and The Wheatsheaf in Middle and Lower Woodford, and The Great Bustard in Great Durnford.
The villages sit on the doorstep of the bustling market town of Amesbury with its GP and dental surgeries, shops, pubs and schools, and the medieval city of Salisbury, with its mainline rail station, just a 20-minute drive. The Valley is just five miles away from Stonehenge.
