Find out moreWiltshire, with its rolling hills, historic landmarks and picture-perfect villages, is the ideal destination for a day trip or a weekend break away. And whether you’re a local looking for something new, or just visiting, here are seven things you won’t want to miss this month.
The days may be getting longer, and lighter, but there’s still a chill in the air – the perfect excuse to hunker down in a cosy country pub!
The Beckford Arms in Fonthill Gifford and The Lamb at Hindon are two of our favourite spots. Think roaring fires, comfy armchairs, and menus packed with local produce.
If you’re a rugby fan, The Lamb is showing all the mud-splattering and edge-of-your-seat action of the Six Nations until March 15, so don’t wait to book a table!
If you fancy a roast dinner, try The Bell, where the roasts come with all the trimmings and a side of stunning countryside views. With Mother’s Day on March 30, it’s best to get your booking in early.
If you love music, history and architecture, this concert series is a must.
On March 14, the cathedral welcomes a pianist described as “quite possibly the most interesting pianist in the world”. David Owen Norris will put on an intimate performance of his own compositions alongside works by Handel, Mendelssohn, and Byrd, all set against the stunning backdrop of Salisbury Cathedral’s arches and stained glass windows.
Tickets are £15 per adult and £7.50 per child.
Salisbury Playhouse has an exciting lineup in March and whether you’re into gripping theatre, laugh-out-loud comedy, or live music, there’s something for you.
Don’t miss The 39 Steps, a fast-paced adaptation of Alfred Hitchcock’s classic spy thriller, running until March 8. Or, if you’re after music, catch an unmissable tribute to George Michael. Comedy fans? Ian Stirling brings his latest stand-up tour to the Playhouse this month.

You don’t have to be a seasoned crafter to visit The Crafty Cup in Wilton. This craft hub and coffee shop offers a mix of regular creative workshops and mindful crafting for everyone.
Community Craft evenings are free and run on the second Tuesday of each month (March 11). No need to book – adults can drop in between 6:30pm and 8:30pm to craft a project of their own or browse the craft packs available to purchase.
Ever wanted to try scrapbooking, knitting, embroidery, crocheting, origami, needle felting or calligraphy? This is the place to do it.

From March 12, the beautiful Heale Garden, at Heale House in Middle Woodford, reopens to the public.
March is the perfect time to visit, as spring flowers burst into life. You can wander through eight acres of stunning gardens, including an authentic Japanese tea house and the striking red Nikko bridge. Heale Garden and House has a rich history, with links to King Charles II, who is said to have hidden here during his escape to France in 1651. Today, it’s a beautiful part of our county’s heritage.
