Find out moreIt’s December, and you should be thinking about hanging up those Christmas baubles.
But before you start decorating in earnest, make sure you’re properly prepared to make everything as stress-free as possible.
And hopefully, you’ll end up with something really special that will make your front door the talk of the town!
1 Declutter
Clear the decks in preparation for decking the halls. Concentrate on the rooms where you’ll be spending most time and declutter where you can. This is a good time to visit a car boot sale and earn a little extra cash to spend on Christmas presents or new decorations, so fill boxes with things you no longer need and give them a new home.
2 Get the essential jobs done
Clean your oven, get your chimneys swept and the boiler serviced, and make sure you have a good supply of lightbulbs. No one wants things to break down over Christmas, so keep on top of any jobs you might have been putting off. And remember, if you have little children, new toys often need batteries, so make sure you have plenty in!
3 Have a present plan
Buying all your presents and decorations in December is still something many of us do, even though we know we should have started sooner! Check out our blog on Christmas markets to ensure you know all the best places to pick up some last-minute gifts.
4 Check your decorations
Get the decorations down from the loft and check for any broken light bulbs or ornaments so you have time to think about replacements.
5 Set the mood
Create a cosy winter atmosphere by filling your home with Christmassy candles and covering your furniture with sheepskin throws, cosy knits and velvet cushions. Put up plenty of fairy lights inside and out and hang a stylish winter wreath on your front door – check out our blog to find out how to make your own.
