Find out moreOctober half term is just a few weeks away, and Salisbury and the surrounding villages are getting into the spooky spirit. From pumpkin hunts at local farms to chocolate-making, there’s plenty to keep children entertained and the whole family busy over the school holidays.
We’ve rounded up the best Halloween and half-term activities happening within a short drive of the city.
Just twenty minutes from Stonehenge, The Woodbridge Inn in Pewsey is hosting a Halloween Fest that promises fun for all ages. The event runs from Saturday 25 to Sunday 26, and again on Thursday 30 and Friday October 31, from 12pm to 6pm each day, and entry is completely free.
You can pick your perfect pumpkin, explore the craft and produce market, get your face painted or have your hair braided, enjoy tarot readings, and listen to live music while the kids enjoy the Halloween fun. Adults can also relax with a drink from the beer and wine bar. It’s a lively, welcoming event that really captures the fun and creativity of Halloween.
For those who love a bit of adventure, the Halloween Pumpkin Hunt at River Bourne Community Farm in Laverstock is a must. Running from Monday 27 to Friday October 31, from 10am to 2pm daily, children can explore the farmyard and hunt for hidden pumpkins tucked into spooky corners.
Each pumpkin found offers the chance to win a goodie bag. Dressing up is encouraged, so witches, wizards, ghosts, and ghouls are all welcome to join in the Halloween fun. Tickets are £5 per child, and the farm’s mix of outdoor space and friendly animals makes it a perfect activity for active kids who want to enjoy a playful Halloween adventure.

If you’re looking for something a little different, the Autumn Chocolate Experience at HollyChocs in Devizes is ideal! This workshop on October 27 is designed for adults and children aged five and above to enjoy together.
The day starts with a warming treat from the Ultimate Hot Chocolate Menu, featuring twelve indulgent flavours. After that, participants learn about chocolate’s journey from bean to bar, tasting raw cocoa beans and signature chocolate blends along the way, and discovering how HollyChocs supports small, ethical cocoa farms. The highlight is creating and decorating your own chocolates to take home – though they rarely last long! There’s also a special discount for anyone who wants to stock up on even more chocolatey treats.
Cholderton Rare Breeds Farm is getting into the Halloween spirit from October 23 to 31 with a full week of spooky farmyard fun. In addition to the farm’s daily animal activities, there’s a Halloween Farm Trail, a pumpkin patch photo spot, and plenty of chances to meet the animals, including McMoo, the farm’s friendly mascot.
Children can make their own witches’ broomsticks and take part in games like Witches Hat Hoopla. Special events include creepy crafts in the barn from October 23 to 26, and spooky magic shows at 11am and 1pm on October 27 and 31. On the 30th, families can enjoy a Halloween party with Disco Dion. Fancy dress is encouraged, and children in costume receive a free bag of animal feed! Some events have entry fees, such as £9 per child for the Halloween Show, but it promises to be a day packed with festive fun!
To round off half-term, Salisbury’s Fireworks Night takes place on Saturday, November 1 at the Racecourse, with gates opening at 5:30pm. The evening features a dazzling display of fireworks, live music from the tribute band “This is Queen”, and plenty of food and drink stalls. Children aged three and under get in free, while tickets cost £12 for adults and £6 for ages four and above.
The night kicks off with a Halloween Disco for kids from 6pm to 7pm, complete with games and prizes. Then the live music heats up the evening before the fireworks light up the sky at 7:30pm.
