Lover

Who wouldn’t want to live in a village called Lover? This small, Wiltshire village is inundated around Valentine’s Day for romantics wanting their card to be postmarked ‘Lover’. Even after the Post Office closed, a temporary pop-up version is set up for one week in February to keep the tradition alive. In reality, the village name is pronounced like Dover – but let’s not dampen the romance.

Lover is a pretty village in the parish of Redlynch and within the New Forest National Park. It’s close to the A36 and just 25 minutes from the cathedral city of Salisbury with its shops, restaurants, bars, culture and heritage. The train from here to London takes less than 90 minutes.

This is a strong local community which manages Lover Green, the former school’s playing fields, and the old school buildings, as a village hall and community resource.
