Downton & the edge of the New Forest
The area around Downton and the edge of the New Forest is idyllic. New Forest ponies, donkeys and cattle roam wild in the Forest and the crystal clear waters of the River Avon flow through the region, making it lush and green.
There are scattered villages with thatched cottages, winding country lanes and country pubs. But despite the peace of these villages, the area is close to the cathedral city of Salisbury with its shops, restaurants, bars, culture and heritage.
The train from here to London takes less than 90 minutes.
