Gomeldon, officially in the parish of Idmiston, is a small, picturesque village in the valley of the River Bourne offering the best of country living.

History
Gomeldon is referenced in the Domesday Book where it was recorded as ‘Gomeldone’.
An ancient medieval village, south west of the school between the village today and the river, was excavated in the 1960s and the site of this deserted village is now a designated ancient monument.
Walking and cycling
There is a 3.4 mile circular route from Gomeldon, taking you through fields, woodlands, and the village of Porton. It’s a relatively easy walk, suitable for most abilities, and offers scenic views of the countryside.
Gomeldon is close to the eastern edge of Salisbury Plain, where numerous trails and footpaths are available. You can tailor the distance and difficulty to your preference.
