Living in the Avon Valley
The picturesque Avon Valley is a river valley that includes the towns and villages around Stonehenge.
The beautiful River Avon begins as two small rivers, just north of Salisbury in the Vale of Pewsey, which merge as they flow south across Salisbury Plain and through the city of Salisbury itself.
Here, they are joined by the rivers Bourne, Nadder and Wylye, and then a short distance downstream by the River Ebble.
Historic sites are at the heart of the Avon Valley, including Woodhenge at Amesbury and Durrington Walls – the largest Neolithic henge in the UK.
